1. Powder Pink Lehenga by PinkTree
Nothing transports us back to the understated desi glam and panache of pre-partition time than a good lehenga. PinkTree managed to take us on a journey to the past with their powder pink lehenga embellished with gota work. With a silhouette fit for a queens, PinkTree outdid themselves in taking us to the desi chic of the 70s. Kudos to the designers for bringing good memories back!
2. Red and Gold Sari by PinkTree
You can trust the good ol’ combination of red/maroon and gold to exude effortless sophistication every single time. PinkTree did it again on the first day of FPW 2018 with another hit number on the ramp with this maroon and gold sari with a romantic lacy twist. The simplicity of the maroon velvet blouse complements and accentuates the fairy-tale appeal of the dull gold net sari coupled with delicately sequined pallu, making it an affair worth turning your head for!
3. Grey Silhouttes by Yasmeen Jiwa
Yasmeen Jiwa’s collection channeled serious ethereal goddess of futuristic glamour vibes! Our favourite was the long draped silver dress with mirror work, a harmonious marriage of silver and grey with just the right pop of red making it a perfect pick for the red carpet as well as a subcontinental wedding. Now that’s what we call an all-rounder!
4. Velvet inner with printed coat
Embellished black velvet inner paired with a minimally sequined coat, Azfar Rahman’s look courtesy Amir Adnan is the look best men of 2018 need to replicate. Fashion forward yet understated, the look was the perfect mix for men who like to be different but not in an eccentric, over-the-top way.
5. Self-printed coat with a ‘look at me’ printed scarf
Nothing gets us more excited than a look that strikes the perfect balance between minimal and flamboyant. Amir Adnan accrued new levels of sartorial fashion with the sleek, self-printed coat coupled with cuffs with pops of hot orange and a heavily embellished black, gold and orange scarf.
Cannes 2018: Mahira Khan embodies vogue and empowerment at the event
I’m sure you must have heard our homegirl Mahira who is also one of the brand ambassadors of Lux is representing Pakistan hard at Cannes unless you’ve been spending too much time under a rock. From her floor-grazing black gown at the main event to a chic pants-to-inspire behind-the-scenes looks, Mahira’s fashion vogue game is giving A-listers from Hollywood and Bollywood serious competition. Mahira is the first Pakistani woman to grace the red carpet at Cannes and show a side of the country less known to the rest of the world.
While the international media is saturated with rather extremist imagery and perception of Pakistan, Mahira’s attendance at one of the most prestigious events in the entertainment industry, marks for a new decade in the history of Pakistan and further rolls the wheel of feminism in the subcontinent. Pakistan as a country, is so much more than violence and extremism and Mahira is there to show the world that we are #highfashion as our neighbours. Cheers to representation!
Here are our favourite 5 looks that Mahira pulled off at the grand event!
