Fashion trends to follow in 2018

1) Fancy, bossy pants:

Skinny jeans are so last year as more and more A-list designers are crushing on boot-cuts and flared pants. Whether you like them plain, printed, jeweled up or even roughed up, flared pants are back with a bang giving us serious Charlie’s Angels of late 70s and early 80s.

2) Bright hues

Bolder and brighter has been the mantra on many prominent runway shows and lucky for us, the subcontinent’s obsession with color makes oh-so- easy for us to incorporate this trend in our closets. Go monochrome or go printed, brighter, saturated colors are the way to go. Unleash the hippie in you!

3) Mixed Prints

From the feminine florals set against vintage polka dots to mixing stripes with checks, this is the year to go wild with experimentation when it comes to your closet. If you’re confused about how to mix prints without looking like a mess, read our guide on mixing prints and colors.

4) Denim is in

Not that it ever went out of style, denim is back with a bang this season with everything from jackets, to dresses and of course bottoms.

5) Fringe benefits

The fringe is here to stay for another year so good news for everyone who invested in this trend last year, you another 364 days to wear your most adored fringe articles. From tops to lawn kameezes to dresses, fringe in haute these days.

6) Pastels

A summer without pastels is like a Jane Austen book without strong female characters i.e. impossible. For anyone who prefers understated glam over in-your- face impact, this one’s for you guys, From powder pinks, to sky blues to mint greens, pastels are perfect and not to mention so on-trend this sunny season.

Cannes 2018: Mahira Khan embodies vogue and empowerment at the event

I’m sure you must have heard our homegirl Mahira who is also one of the brand ambassadors of Lux is representing Pakistan hard at Cannes unless you’ve been spending too much time under a rock. From her floor-grazing black gown at the main event to a chic pants-to-inspire behind-the-scenes looks, Mahira’s fashion vogue game is giving A-listers from Hollywood and Bollywood serious competition. Mahira is the first Pakistani woman to grace the red carpet at Cannes and show a side of the country less known to the rest of the world.

While the international media is saturated with rather extremist imagery and perception of Pakistan, Mahira’s attendance at one of the most prestigious events in the entertainment industry, marks for a new decade in the history of Pakistan and further rolls the wheel of feminism in the subcontinent. Pakistan as a country, is so much more than violence and extremism and Mahira is there to show the world that we are #highfashion as our neighbours. Cheers to representation!

Here are our favourite 5 looks that Mahira pulled off at the grand event!
