As winter approaches, we are becoming more and more excited about wrapping ourselves up in the coziest shawls and cover-ups. Sadly, once you wrap yourself up in the one comfortable way you know, your entire outfit loses its charm and you end up looking the same every single day. BeautifulYou asked Shamaeel Ansari, the shawl expert, on some different ways to drape so we we’re not just warm this winter, but stylish too.
- One way you can drape a shawl is by placing a majority of the shawl over one shoulder and swooping the remainder behind your back and over the opposite arm. This is a cool, spunky way to carry your shawl and still stay warm.
2. Fold your shawl in half and stretch it across your back and over your arms to the front. Create a large swoop on the back area to show off your beautiful shawl (and skills!). This may not keep you as warm as the other ways to wear it but it looks extremely elegant.
3. Wrap yourself in a shawl how you regularly would, but create an off-shoulder look by tightly wrapping it from the top and instead of having it cover both shoulders, wrap it over one shoulder and right below the shoulder on the opposite side. You’ll be cozier than ever and look even more stunning.
4. For the most regal option, fold your shawl to resemble a stole, making sure the edges of your shawl are aligned. Wrap the shawl off your shoulders and hold it together at the front.
Go forth and show off your new shawling expertise!
Cannes 2018: Mahira Khan embodies vogue and empowerment at the event
I’m sure you must have heard our homegirl Mahira who is also one of the brand ambassadors of Lux is representing Pakistan hard at Cannes unless you’ve been spending too much time under a rock. From her floor-grazing black gown at the main event to a chic pants-to-inspire behind-the-scenes looks, Mahira’s fashion vogue game is giving A-listers from Hollywood and Bollywood serious competition. Mahira is the first Pakistani woman to grace the red carpet at Cannes and show a side of the country less known to the rest of the world.
While the international media is saturated with rather extremist imagery and perception of Pakistan, Mahira’s attendance at one of the most prestigious events in the entertainment industry, marks for a new decade in the history of Pakistan and further rolls the wheel of feminism in the subcontinent. Pakistan as a country, is so much more than violence and extremism and Mahira is there to show the world that we are #highfashion as our neighbours. Cheers to representation!
Here are our favourite 5 looks that Mahira pulled off at the grand event!
